Best Photography Spots in Greater Houston
This blog entry serves two purposes; first, it drives traffic to my website, and second it serves as a menu of sorts for my clients to reference when choosing a location for their sessions. I shoot in sooo many locations around Houston and the surrounding area so I figured it was about time I make a list of my favorite spots.
Eleanor Tinsley Park
Eleanor Tinsley Park is a great way to throw in some variety and I have done so many different types of shoots here. From Family, to Seniors, Engagements, and even Elopements! You get the beautiful greenery, the skyline, and the Sabine Street Bridge all in one central location. Shoots are best done in the morning as parking is limited and the park gets busy VERY quickly.
The Menil Collection
Located in the Museum District, the grounds of The Menil Collection are a beautiful, quiet place to get some modern architecture and greenery in your portraits. The historic Oak tree is a favorite for Maternity and Family sessions. Shoots are best done in the morning as parking is limited and it’s a very popular spot for group yoga, picnics, and frisbee later in the morning. So skip the crowd and schedule an early morning session.
Kickerillo Mischer PRESERVE
Located in NW Houston, you’ll find a wide open green space with large trees and a lake, perfect for Engagements, Family sessions of all sizes, and even Elopements. There are restrooms located at this park for those needing to make a wardrobe change as well. Shoots are best done in the morning as parking is limited and it’s a very popular park for fishing, biking, and picnics.
Jones Creek Ranch Park
Located in Richmond, you’ll find a wide open green space perfect for Family sessions of all sizes. This is my favorite spot for Golden Hour! It’s a very quiet park no matter the time of day, and plenty of parking. There are restrooms located at this park for those needing to make a wardrobe change as well.
Challenger 7 Memorial Park
Located in League City, you’ll find a wide open green space perfect for Family sessions of all sizes. This is another favorite spot for Golden Hour! So if you live close by, this would be a perfect setting.
Galveston
I mean come on! It’s the BEACH! I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about Houston is that it’s only a short drive from several beaches. Galveston has it all, the ocean, Historic locations, and greenery. It’s perfect for all types of sessions, but best for morning or weekday sessions when the beach isn’t so busy.
Rob Fleming Park
Located in The Woodlands, you’ll find a wide open green space with a lake perfect for Family sessions of all sizes.
